It is made by polymerization of initiator (compound containing active hydrogen group) epoxyethane (EO), propylene oxide (PO), expoxybutane (BO) ,etc and with catalysts . A lot of kinds of polyether polyol are obtained by using glycerol (propanol) as initiator plus epoxide (usually PO and EO), with different feeding modes of PO and EO (mixed or added separately), material ratio, feeding sequence and so on.

Polyether polyols are widely used in the manufacture of universal polyurethane foam, adhesives and elastomers.
